Hi Cheryl, I’m impressed with ‘Between the Covers’ especially the review of The Red Tent.
I remember reading that story in Genesis many years ago and thinking something similar – this is not the way to go about winning friends (alternatively, this is a story about people who didn’t give a damn what others thought). One might even be tempted to speculate that the outcome for the men was entirely predictable but what was really enlightening (both in your review and the book itself) was the insight into the attitude towards women – not just chattels but bargaining tokens as well.
